Although the ongoing pandemic has dampened a lot of plans this 2021, Amanda Tirol shares how there’s a silver lining in the way weddings are now being celebrated—with smaller moments, but bigger love.

Do you all remember how one year ago, we were all excited to welcome 2020 and how we expected it to be the year for all our breakthroughs?
Unfortunately, that did not work well for most of us in the events industry. For a brief moment, our spirits were crushed and we were highly alarmed about the future of our industry. But despite all the challenges, I can definitely say that I am privileged to be part of this business—for no matter what happens, things would never stay down for too long.
Of Bravery And Resilience
It is heartwarming to witness how brilliant and resilient my co-suppliers were even at the height of the pandemic. Everyone was able to think of innovations and implement them instantly and at the same time, too. After all, the show must go on, right?

Until now, no one is certain as to when the pandemic will really end. But even before that, we from the industry knew that we had to prepare for the long haul. Different concepts quickly sprouted—live streaming events through Zoom or even sending different kinds of food (like grazing boxes) to your guests so that you can still share your wedding day experience with your loved ones while they are in the safety of their homes. Someone even thought of having a virtual photo booth so that guests can dress up and really feel like they were part of the celebration. And trust me, it is astounding to watch all these ideas unfold.
Now, I know it is one thing to be part of such a strong community of hard-working people, but it is the optimism of the wedding couples that gives me more drive, more hope, and the assurance that this industry will endure this great of a challenge. And for that, I am grateful.
Of Intimate But More Meaningful Weddings
“There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer: no disease that love will not heal: no door that enough love will not open. It makes no difference how deep set the trouble: how hopeless the outlook: how muddled the tangle: how great the mistake. A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all. If only you could love enough you would be the happiest and most powerful being in the world.”

We already know that the pandemic opened the eyes of many and how it had us appreciate life and everything that transpires in it a little bit more.
Everything is just especially beautiful when you take the time to notice—even weddings.
Though smaller, the weddings became much more meaningful and each moment turned out to be remarkable. During the pandemic, we have seen how every kiss is sweeter, every hug, tighter, every tear, more vivid, every smile, kinder, and every laugh, louder. We saw that there is magic in the mundane and that a big picture can fit even in the smallest of frames.

Of Love in a Pandemic
Yes, people are still anxious, and the thought of being around many people does frighten us, too, especially since the virus keeps on progressing. We are not saying that you shouldn’t be scared of it. In fact, you need to be very careful. However, the only good thing this virus brought about is that despite how it seems overpowering at the moment, we are also continuously learning how to live with it. We have realized that there is a chance to fight, control, and avoid it as long as we strictly follow the protocols and as long as we never let our guard down.

Even behind those facemasks and face shields, it is still such a fulfilling sight to watch how love can overcome any kind of test. May this enormous roadblock make us choose to continue to celebrate love, because love, really does conquer all.
