Camper and Cabin: A Mountainside Luxury Staycation Unlike Any Other
Here’s what to expect from Camper and Cabin’s laid-back vibe and eco-luxury accommodations—a piece of paradise away from the city.
Staying at home throughout the summer holidays (for the second year in a row!) has got us all yearning to travel again. Since we can’t just easily jet off to an island destination, it’s time we cast our field of vision wider—but close to home—and discover other options.
And yes, you will be astonished as to what you will find within driving distance from the Metro.

It was an unexpected treat when I discovered Camper and Cabin last March. They had just launched their mountainside luxury retreat by the foothills of Mount Batulao in Batangas. Founded by a keen traveler and photographer, the place exudes a vintage vibe—with an industrial architectural design that merges with the spectacular surrounding nature.

Primed to be a premier eco-luxury destination in the Philippines, Camper and Cabin combines sublime vistas of the raw beauty of the Calaca countryside, with the cozy comforts of a boutique hotel—giving you a unique staycation experience.

Staycation Finds
It is rare to come upon a place where you instantly feel this desire to experience what they have to offer all at once, but when you lay your eyes upon Camper and Cabin, that is exactly how you’ll feel. Not knowing what to do first, you’ll immediately check your calendar to see how you can plan your staycation dates. That way, you can experience each and every one of their eco-luxury staycation choices.
Three accommodation options are available for your stay: a Luxury Mid-Century Cabin, a Modern Glass Cabin, and an Airstream Trailer. All of these options allow you to bask in the vivid scenery and stunning sunsets over Mount Batulao, Balayan Bay, and the Nasugbu farmland.

Cabin 1: A Mid-Century Modern-Inspired Cabin
You might do a double-take the first time you see a snapshot of the first cabin. When I first saw it come up on my staycation search, I thought it was a place located somewhere else entirely and that was somehow included in the list by mistake. But I was wrong. This stunning site is part of Camper and Cabin’s staycation options.

Designed to perch on top of a hill, this cabin is a newly-built destination showcasing timeless mid-century interiors with modern and industrial elements. With its uncomplicated clean lines and open spaces throughout, the property boasts of a sweeping 360-degree view of the splendid Mount Batulao sunset, tranquil Balayan Bay, and lush Nasugbu farmlands.
With a fresh mountain breeze all year round, this cabin draws upon the raw beauty of the countryside and the creature comforts of a boutique hotel to offer you a redefined retreat experience.

Cabin 1: Bedrooms and Bathrooms
The master’s bedroom—with a king-sized bed and organic plush beddings—opens its sliding doors to the sunken outdoor patio next to the infinity pool. The guest bedroom has 2 queen-sized beds, allowing a comfortable stay for a family or small group of 6 to 8 people. Both en suite bathrooms have glass windows, giving you a glimpse of the view overlooking the countryside.

Cabin 1: Kitchen and Dining Area
The open-plan kitchen-dining area is sleek and modern—with complete amenities required to compliment an enjoyable stay. It even has a vintage turntable for a nostalgic experience.

Cabin 1: Patio and Poolside
The sunken patio is just begging for sundown gatherings, enjoying drinks while soaking in the rays of the fading sun and savoring the glorious play of nature’s light.

The wooden-decked infinity pool invites you to soak your weary city body and stare at the unobstructed views of Mt. Batulao. Intended to be a heated pool in the near future, the pool will be perfect for a dip even in the cooler months. This is also an idyllic spot to practice meditation or yoga flow while you bathe in the energy of nature around you.

Cabin 2: A Modern-Inspired Cabin
I was already booking this in my mind, thinking that it would be perfect for a couple’s getaway, but this cabin can actually fit a small family or even a group of four! So in theory, I could take my kids with us.
But then again, why would I? Ha!

Cabin 2: Bedroom and Bathroom
As the name suggests, this cabin combines a modern architecture design with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The result is an extraordinary panoramic view across the farmland and hills that surround the property. The master’s bedroom, complete with a king-sized bed and optional pull-out bed (if you got conned to taking the kids with you), similarly enjoys the wonderful view of the landscape.

The en suite bathroom is spacious and has eco-friendly bath amenities, with view of the surrounding nature bathing the space with natural light.

Cabin 2: Kitchen and Dining Area
The modern, open kitchen is provided with all necessary amenities and dishware for your convenience as well.

Cabin 2: Viewing Deck
This cabin’s viewing deck comes complete with a swing, an outdoor patio table and chairs, and even a hammock—with Mt. Talamitan, Mt. Tarak, and Mt. Pico de Loro providing the backdrop. There might be an outdoor tub getting installed here soon, too, so watch out for that update.

Airstream Camper Van: The Vintage Amsterdam Suite
I have to admit that my children were most excited by the prospect of staying at the Airstream Camper Van, thinking that we can actually drive it around Batangas!

And no, before you get the same idea as my kids, the Airstream stays on location. In fact, it’s anchored down on the ground to protect it from the strong mountain winds.

Airstream Accommodation: A Camping Experience
The 25-foot Airstream was quite a challenge to bring over to the Philippines. But now that it’s here, you have to experience it for yourself. This is the first-ever Airstream accommodation in the country that gives you that road trip-inspired camping experience while embracing comfort as if you were at home.

Airstream Accommodation: Interiors
Exuding a relaxed, offbeat vibe, the interior is filled with crisp, organic, plush beddings and modern furnishings for a homey stay. It has a cozy couch furnished with throw pillows, a small dining area complete with a kitchenette, and amenities for in-room dining needs.

Airstream Accommodation: Bathroom
Don’t fret about how tiny the bathroom might be inside a camper van, as they have provided an underground bathroom just next to the Airstream. This comes complete with modern bath amenities and boasts of plenty of space.

Airstream Accommodation: Outdoors
When you’ve had your fill of chilling inside, you can always spend time in the great outdoors. Overlooking the majestic mountain views is your very own private deck. You can even take advantage of the outdoor dining area and the barbecue grill.

Other Features and Amenities
There’s nothing like an Outdoor Breakfast Area, where you can breathe in fresh air while you sip your hot coffee to start the day.

A Receiving Lounge also provides an additional area for relaxation—complete with comfortable chairs and a swing, where guests can gather to play board games.

A Campfire Pit is currently under construction and is targeted to be ready by sometime in late May. It will feature a bonfire area and cozy chairs to enjoy an evening of s’mores, playful charades, and storytelling. You can also set the mood with a feel-good playlist and just enjoy the company around you.
Now doesn’t that sound like a piece of paradise away from the Metro?
