Learn How to Cook Gourmet Meals the HIMpossible Way
Chef Him Uy de Baron and Rustan’s team up to bring you virtual cooking sessions that let you cook up a grand feast… right at home!
Stuck in a limbo of ECQ, MECQ, GCQ, and more, there’s just no telling when we can finally go out and enjoy some sense of normalcy. But even so, we’ve all found ways to adapt and get by—most of which includes bringing a taste of the outside world into our homes. And when I say taste, I mean it in the literal sense—from restaurant-quality meals to ready-to-cook DIY kits or even affordable eats from your favorite establishments.
Since we’re mostly at home, deliveries are a godsend, especially on busy days or on lazy days. Even more so on those occasions when you don’t know what to cook! But on special days or when you’re feeling a little indulgent, cooking up a feast is much more special.
And whether you’re a home cook or a frustrated chef, it’s not impossible—HIMpossible, that is—to create restaurant-quality dishes at home.

Cooking Up a Feast
Learning how to cook from cookbooks or YouTube videos is one thing, but nothing beats a hands-on demonstration from expert chefs. Though with the ongoing pandemic, going out seems like a pipe dream. So the next best thing? A virtual cooking session! (Yes, they exist.)
Rustan’s, together with Chef and Restaurant Consultant Him Uy de Baron, bring you HIMpossible Recipes Class—a year-long series of classes that teach you how to cook up a feast… from the safety of your homes! Through this interactive course, you can learn how to prepare a wide variety of dishes from diverse cuisines—with recipes for keeps, too!
“HIMpossible Recipes is a proud partner of Rustan’s in bringing kitchen-tested family-approved recipes to as many homes as we could,” Chef Him Uy de Baron explains. “We have worked with Rustan’s Summer on Call to provide an even better service of making the home cook’s life easier. Rustan’s will take care of the participants’ hardware—[from] electric appliances that will make cooking a lot more convenient to dinnerware. [That way, they can] showcase the hard work they put in and present the food well [after].”
From Impossible to HIMpossible
Each HIMPossible Recipe Class features a unique theme, where you’ll prepare up to 3 dishes from a curated menu. It’s like a culinary trip to a different country in every session!
Take for example the Izakaya Night with OTO, a session launched last April 15. There, participants learned how to make cocktails from Elixir Emissary David Ong and David Abalayan, along with food by Chef Him. These food pairings include canapés like Chopped Tuna Tataki with Shiso, Soy and Sesame, and Enoki wrapped in Bacon Glazed with Tare.

Now, the beauty of Chef Him’s virtual sessions goes beyond watching a one-sided demonstration from your computer or smartphone. In fact, Chef Him can give comments and correct you in real-time. Meanwhile, when in doubt, you can also ask him questions in between.
Unlike the usual cooking sessions, where you rely on a well-stocked kitchen—one with up-to-date equipment and fresh ingredients—you don’t need to worry about it this time around. That’s because you can find everything you need from Rustan’s. Before each session, Rustan’s will also source, portion, and deliver these ingredients straight to you. That saves you a lot of time and expenses… making things easier, too!

Additionally, the recipe and e-catalog of cooking tools and equipment will be sent to you. If you don’t have a specific tool, you can order it from Rustan’s Summer on Call program.
How to Join This Cooking Class
To join a HIMPossible Recipe Class, you may contact Chef Him and his team through Facebook or Instagram. Send your name, preferred class, delivery address, and contact number.
Once you receive confirmation from a representative and paid for the class, you will be updated with the delivery schedule. And two hours before the session, you will be given the Zoom link to get in.
Enjoy and let’s get cooking!
