♥️👑🙏🏼🇵🇭 My heart cannot be fuller than tonight, to walk the stage again for all of our nation, competing to wear the Philippine sash over my heart one more time – and this time for the WORLD. I know this country like the back of my hand. The history, the people, and the greatness. The last few months I have given all of myself and all of my time for this night. I have nothing in my heart but love for you, Philippines. Tonight is dedicated for you and for God. Thank you all for making me the woman I am today, thank you for believing in me and giving me this one more chance. Thank you for all your messages and prayers. If the stars will have it, it would be my grandest honor to represent the Philippines this year for Miss World. Philippines, come alive tonight with me at 10:00PM on Channel GMA7. I love you always. ✨ Photography & Styling | @misterpatrickjames Makeup | @delosreyesjason Hair | @markanthonyrosales Style Associate | @eclipsegem Shoot Coordinator | @iamkrishnab

Last night, beauty pageant fans, friends, and families of the 40 beautiful competitors from all over the country filled the Mall of Asia Arena for Miss World Philippines 2018 coronation night.

However, out of 40 candidates, Katarina bested them all by winning the crown as well as other special awards such as Best in Long Gown, Miss Resorts World Manila, Miss Bench Body, Beach Beauty Challenge, Miss Bluewater Day Spa, and Miss Cosmo Skin. Katarina is also part of the seven finalists of the Top Model award.

Katarina says beauty pageants are all about woman empowerment

In the question and answer portion, Katarina was asked a question “There are people who believe that beauty pageants are a form of women exploitation. What can you do to change their opinion?”

Admitting, Katarina said she was one of those people who thought of beauty pageants that way until she learned more about what beauty pageants are about. She also answered the question swiftly which led her in winning the crown. “One thing I can tell you is that you may think it’s very competitive but it’s not. You understand beauty pageants when you know that it is actually not competitive against other women. It’s actually competitive towards yourself. And in a sense, it’s all about woman empowerment. And you can feel that in this group of girls… each girl knows that we are all individually beautiful,” she said.

Katarina will compete in the Miss World 2018 pageant in Sanya, China in December.
