JC de Vera and Rikkah Cruz on How to Have a Stunning Vintage Photoshoot
Set in the cobbled streets of Intramuros, actor JC de Vera and Rikkah Cruz’s love is captured in stunning prenuptial photos.
Actor JC De Vera and Rikkah Cruz are set to tie the knot very soon. To celebrate their love, I’ll be sharing with you a glimpse of their official prenuptial photos—taken in the old streets of Manila.
For JC and Rikkah’s prenup shoot, my team and I from Niceprint Photo were inspired by the aesthetics of old Manila, set in the 50s. While dressing the couple up for this prenup shoot, we wanted to embody our idea of what life was like back then.

The Vintage Charm of Old Manila
Amidst the old fountains and cobblestones, we shot in the beautiful streets of Intramuros. And I love how the photos turned out! One scene was shot at the balcony beside Manila Cathedral and it was so dreamy and ethereal! Special thanks to created by Rabbithole Creatives for the amazing set design.
We even did a night scene at the famous rehabilitated Jones Bridge—set at the heart of Manila. Wearing their Francis Libiran ensemble, Jc and Rikkah looked picture-perfect.

Dressing the Part
The theme for the shoot was a mix of modern Filipino and old-world charm feels. In this shoot, we wanted to reminisce and bring back that era—even for just a day—and our couple had to look the part.
And the results were stunning! Clad in tea-length swing dresses—with petticoats for fullness—and in fascinators, Rikkah was a perfect model of a classy Filipina. As for JC, he donned tailored double-breasted suits, sweaters, and suspenders. It was very fitting for the times, because we were once called the “Paris of the East” and “The Most Beautiful City in the Far East.”
The beautiful couple was styled by celebrity stylist Cath Sobrevega, while makeup and grooming were done by Chie Gonzales.

The Art of Styling
Inspired by JC and Rikkah’s stunning pre-colonial shoot? Celebrity stylist Cath Sobrevega shares how you can pull off your very own historical photo-op.
“To style a pre-wedding shoot for a certain era, you have to make sure you have a location perfect for that or a studio with a great set design. That will set the mood and tone of your shoot,” she explains. “Next, you need to check on the trends and how the people living in that era used to dress up.”
Alluding to the ’50s—the time period the couple chose—Cath adds, “The trends for women were tea-length swing dresses, pencil and circle skirts, Peter Pan collared blouses, and fascinators [or headpieces]. As for men, it was meticulously tailored suits, breast pockets, matching, and contrasting vests. Basically, the quintessential tuxedo plus jackets remained constant throughout the 1950s.”

Aside from the attire and setup, the color scheme is just as important. “[Back then, the color ] palette was mostly black and white at night, while daytime suits revolved around blues, blacks, browns, and greys,” she continues. “Once you already have the location and have trimmed down the different trends and the palette you’ll be working around, you can start with creating your mood board and the looks for the shoot.”

Different looks, different themes, but the same couple and the same love. Through this photoshoot, we celebrated JC and Rikkah’s love for each other. And it truly manifested in every snapshot (and video) we took! Best wishes, JC and Rikkah! We are all excited about the big day!
