In the Spirit of Fiestas and More: A Look at Mitch and John’s Festive Wedding

Capturing the vibrance and joy that Filipino fiestas are known for, Mitch and John celebrated their love in a festive wedding.

Most of us have felt hopeless and helpless at least once in our lives. But sometimes, right in the middle of hardship, someone comes into our lives—sharing our burdens, so that everything will feel lighter and easier to handle.

This was exactly how Mitch felt after meeting John.

Love at First Sight

“Once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life… love gives us a fairy tale.”

-Melissa Brown

Before Mitch even met John, she was a single parent with two kids. Now, we all know that this isn’t an easy task. At times, it can sometimes feel like you have the weight of the whole world on your shoulders. But being the strong and independent woman that she is, she was always able to face the world no matter what.

And then, there was John. No girlfriend since birth and a simple guy—waiting for his dream girl to come. He first saw Mitch in front of the barangay hall—her face on a tarpaulin of Ms. Makati. It was love at first sight! He fell in love instantly and thought, “Wow! She’s really gorgeous.”

But little did he know that soon after, he would eventually meet the woman of his dreams and even marry her! Likewise, it was Mitch’s dream to get married. And through their chance encounter, this was a dream that was fulfilled.

Highlights and Our Favorite Moments

Everything about her wedding was Philippine fiesta-themed: happy, colorful, exciting, lively, vibrant, and loud. There were lots of food to go around, too! Some of our favorite elements in Mitch and John’s wedding include:

THE TAGALOG LANGUAGE: Everyone was requested to just speak the Filipino language during the day. You will already feel this the moment you set foot in the venue.

BANDERITAS: The theme was special because when Mitch was growing up, their family used to do a lot of things for fiestas—like making their own banderitas. This was why during their wedding, she made sure that there were lots of banderitas surrounding the place.

FIESTA FOOD: Mitch and John’s favorite fiesta food was all present, as well. There was taho, puto bumbong, bibingka, scramble, pichi-pichi, kutsinta, suman, dried mangoes, sapin-sapin, fishballs, kwek-kwek, squidballs, kikiam, sorbetes, and sago at gulaman. And of course, it wouldn’t be a complete fiesta without the famous lechon. Are you all drooling now? I know I am.

SAMPAGUITA CHANDELIERS: Serge Igonia made everything even more special by covering all the chandeliers with sampaguita. Can you imagine how amazing the whole place smelled?

DRUMBEATERS: This definitely sealed the fiesta theme. The drumbeaters, who were playing in the background, made everything more fun and livelier. What’s more, the guests and even the couple danced with them, while waiting for the sun to set.

THE BRIDAL GOWN: Boy Kastner Santos made sure that the bridal gown will stand out in the best way possible. The veil that went with the gown made the bride look and feel like a classic “dalagang Filipina”—much like those you see in magazines. This made us all want to have a “terno” in our closets for special occasions like this.

The Most Memorable Part

I’d have to say that the rain was the most memorable highlight of Mitch and John’s wedding. With all the beautiful things coming together, the rain suddenly fell.

No, it did not ruin things—even if the ceremony was outdoor. John, together with all his guests, had to wait a few more minutes for the rain to stop before starting the ceremony. But all those years spent together while waiting for this special moment to happen was nothing compared to these few minutes.

Soon after, the rain stopped—just enough to finish the whole ceremony. Guests could not help their tears from falling as each moment was just perfect and beautiful. And it was truly a sight to behold.

Congratulations, Mitch and John!
