RELATED: Love In The Time Of COVID: Engagements And Weddings Now Made Intimate

Seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases these recent weeks has forced our government to once again place NCR+ in quarantine—Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) from Holy Week, up until the first half of April and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) on the second half. Both of these meant restrictions again on events and and mass gatherings such as weddings, which brings me back to the time when the pandemic started in 2020, and how we all learned to adapt to the changes and evolve from there.

The wedding industry is once again in a very challenging situation. We are once again pushed to thrive and adapt to the current situation in the best way we know. Hence, intimate home weddings are now a norm once again. As we saw the gradual hope of events happening again in the last quarter of 2020 up to the first quarter of 2021, we are again back where we started.

Of Special and More Intimate Moments

But now, I’ve learned to embrace the change. I’ve started to appreciate the idea of intimate events—from weddings to birthdays, debuts, and more. They may be small, simple, and not as grand as the pre-pandemic weddings and events that we used to cover, but they are as special—if not, more special.

And so, after looking through our recent home pandemic weddings and events, I want to share these special moments with you. Indeed, for these events, the quote “no frills, just love” is just so true and timely.

Stunning and Intimate Events Held Despite the Pandemic

14. Greggy and Bianca’s Artsy Home Wedding

Greggy and Bianca’s wedding was set in their home. It was intimate, funky, artsy, and just simply beautiful. From the bride’s stunning gown to the matching bridal shoes and groom’s necktie from Paul Smith, the whole ensemble was a sight to behold. Add to that their fur babies to complete their wedding portraits!

13. BJ and Jeri’s Intimate Home Wedding

BJ and Jeri’s home wedding was simple, elegant, and intimate. They got married in their home in the presence of just their immediate families, which followed with a simple dinner shared with those who truly matter to them. Truly an intimate wedding with loved ones!

12. Chinkee Uy’s Tropical-themed Birthday

Chinkie Uy had a special birthday celebration in her family home’s garage. It was transformed oh-so-beautifully by event stylist Teddy Manuel into a modern tropical-themed affair with a beautiful table set up for just 7 people.

11. Jovin and Winnie’s Summer Wedding

Jovin and Winnie’s summer wedding in Southern California was set in their home backyard. With just 12 people in attendance including the pastor, it was intimate, solemn, and truly special. They even set up their mobile phone in one corner so that their other friends and relatives could witness their union virtually.

10. Miguel and Pam’s Boho-themed Wedding

Miguel and Pam’s wedding took place in Santuario De San Antonio, followed by a very intimate wedding reception at the groom’s home in Forbes Park. The garden had a transparent tent adorned with bulbs and had beautiful Boho-themed decor—artfully arranged by Teddy Manuel. Using macramé, pampas, empty wine bottles as vases, and a lot of greens, the setup was extremely classy and pretty.

9. Sir R’s Garden-themed Surprise Birthday

Sir R’s 70th surprise birthday party was prepared by his kids in their roof deck at home. Gideon Hermosa converted it to a beautiful lush garden from ceiling to floor. It was a special night to remember for the family since the program included a lot of video presentations and surprise heartwarming speeches from loved ones.

8. Yshi David’s Boho Chic Debut

Yshi David’s intimate debut party in their house backyard had a lovely boho chic theme with just one long table set up for 10 people—consisting of just her family members. Teddy Manuel even made it extra special with the setup with a boho-themed teepee tent for the photo corner, where we took most of their family portraits and of course, the debutante’s solo photos.

7. My Very Lit Birthday Party

My birthday party this year was also an intimate and special one that was held at home. Gideon Hermosa made it extra special by transforming my garden into a beautiful tunnel of lights and flowers. It was so beautiful. The food was a 7-course sit-down dinner by Juan Carlo, the caterer, with only 20 industry friends in attendance. Though intimate, I truly, truly enjoyed the night—having the best dinner inside an awesome setup, and of course, with the best company.

6. Cole and Ginger’s Backyard Home Wedding

Cole and Ginger’s backyard home wedding in Alabang was so pretty, grand, and romantic. Gideon Hermosa once again showed how an intimate home wedding can still be amazingly pretty in spite and despite the current circumstances. Additionally, Happy Ongpauco-Tiu provided a great dinner.

The wedding attended by only their immediate family members and the highlight of the wedding was the speeches from each family member and the surprise AVP’s prepared by their siblings.

5. John and Sarah’s Grand Home Wedding

John and Sarah’s wedding was held in their home. But if you look at their photos, you’ll find it hard to believe that it actually took place in their garden because it looked like it was held in some fancy events place. This is thanks to the kind of setup that Dave Sandoval beautifully provided—complete with chandeliers and floral ceilings, a mirror-type aisle for the ceremony, a grand entrance tunnel, and beautiful backdrops.

4. Mark and Mikee’s Non-traditional Wedding

Mark and Mikee’s simple home wedding was attended by just their immediate families. Their ceremony happened in the courtroom, then was followed by a sumptuous dinner in their Quezon City home. It was a non-traditional wedding, since the bride Mikee was not even wearing a white gown—but rather, a simple colorful short dress.

It was a lovely celebration overall, starring a young and beautiful couple who chose to start their life as husband and wife, even with the current situation. Truly, love wins.

3. Ramir and Bea’s Classy Wedding

Ramir and Bea’s wedding in their Bulacan home was elegantly simple and classy. They looked great together—Ramir in his gray suit and Bea in her pretty white dress. Their photoshoot was mostly shot in front of their 2 funky and cute bridal cars.

2. Mark and Roxanne’s Engagement (Ting Hun)

Mark and Roxanne’s ting hun was held in the bride’s family home. The living room and dining room were both transformed into an oriental floral setup by Gideon Hermosa using red fresh flowers and few pink accent flowers. Plus, the beautiful couple looked stunning in their matching red gown and deep red and black suit.

1. Jodee’s Surprise Debut

Jodee’s surprise home debut was attended by just her family of 10! Their home garage was beautifully transformed by Teddy Manuel using lush white and peach flowers, while the debutante Jodee looked so pretty in her cute white dress.

Truly despite the pandemic, our families still want to make these milestones special for all of us. Celebrations now may be smaller, but they’re still just as memorable as every other grand occasion.
