RELATED: Love In The Time Of COVID: Engagements And Weddings Now Made Intimate
Seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases these recent weeks has forced our government to once again place NCR+ in quarantine—Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) from Holy Week, up until the first half of April and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) on the second half. Both of these meant restrictions again on events and and mass gatherings such as weddings, which brings me back to the time when the pandemic started in 2020, and how we all learned to adapt to the changes and evolve from there.
The wedding industry is once again in a very challenging situation. We are once again pushed to thrive and adapt to the current situation in the best way we know. Hence, intimate home weddings are now a norm once again. As we saw the gradual hope of events happening again in the last quarter of 2020 up to the first quarter of 2021, we are again back where we started.
Of Special and More Intimate Moments
But now, I’ve learned to embrace the change. I’ve started to appreciate the idea of intimate events—from weddings to birthdays, debuts, and more. They may be small, simple, and not as grand as the pre-pandemic weddings and events that we used to cover, but they are as special—if not, more special.
And so, after looking through our recent home pandemic weddings and events, I want to share these special moments with you. Indeed, for these events, the quote “no frills, just love” is just so true and timely.

Miguel and Pam’s wedding took place in Santuario De San Antonio, followed by a very intimate wedding reception at the groom’s home in Forbes Park. 8. Yshi David’s Boho Chic Debut
Yshi David’s intimate debut party in their house backyard had a lovely boho chic theme with just one long table set up for 10 people—consisting of just her family members. 7. My Very Lit Birthday Party
My birthday party this year was also an intimate and special one that was held at home. Gideon Hermosa made it extra special by transforming my garden into a beautiful tunnel of lights and flowers. It was so beautiful. The food was a 7-course sit-down dinner by Juan Carlo, the caterer, with only 20 industry friends in attendance. Though intimate, I truly, truly enjoyed the night—having the best dinner inside an awesome setup, and of course, with the best company.
6. Cole and Ginger’s Backyard Home Wedding

5. John and Sarah’s Grand Home Wedding
John and Sarah’s wedding was held in their home. But if you look at their photos, you’ll find it hard to believe that it actually took place in their garden because it looked like it was held in some fancy events place. This is thanks to the kind of setup that Dave Sandoval beautifully provided—complete with chandeliers and floral ceilings, a mirror-type aisle for the ceremony, a grand entrance tunnel, and beautiful backdrops.
4. Mark and Mikee’s Non-traditional Wedding
Mark and Mikee’s simple home wedding was attended by just their immediate families. Their ceremony happened in the courtroom, then was followed by a sumptuous dinner in their Quezon City home. It was a non-traditional wedding, since the bride Mikee was not even wearing a white gown—but rather, a simple colorful short dress.
It was a lovely celebration overall, starring a young and beautiful couple who chose to start their life as husband and wife, even with the current situation. Truly, love wins.
