Leaving Metro for a Long Weekend Is Now Easier with These Two New Routes

Planning to spend your long weekend out of town? Good news! Last Monday, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) opened two new major infrastructure project that will shorten the travel time for tourists going to the city of Pines.

Aringay-Tubao alternate road and Anduyan Bridge

According to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, the Aringay-Tubao alternate road will lessen travel time from Tuba, La Union to Benguet from 2 hours to 35 minutes.

Meanwhile, travel time from La Union to Baguio City will only take 1 hour from the previous 2 hours and 25 minutes.

“The beauty of this project is that locals do not need to use raft (balsa) to cross the Aringay river as they now have a bridge which they can use every day,” Villar explained.

Apart from cutting traveling time to Benguet and Baguio, the Anduyan Bridge is also expected to reduce traffic along Marcos Highway.

“Another impact of this project is that it will decongest traffic along Marcos Highway specially that the landslide-prone Kennon Road is still closed. Those who would like to spend the holidays in Baguio can use this bridge,” Villar stated.

Hopefully, Baguio and Benguet’s clean and peaceful environment will not be polluted by the increasing number of tourists visiting the province due to the easy access given by the bridges.

The local government should increase the security level of the city and add eco-friendly bins and gadgets to maintain the cleanliness of the city.
