In celebration of Pride Month, Adidas launches its collection of pride-themed apparel—proudly worn by LGBTQ+ icons and allies.

June is a month with many occasions worth celebrating. There’s Independence Day on June 12 and Father’s Day on June 20. But if we’re talking about a month-long celebration, it’s undoubtedly Pride Month.

This June, the spotlight is on our brothers and sisters from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community. What first started as a commemoration for the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan—a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States—soon became a month-long celebration of diversity and love in all forms.

In the spirit of Pride Month, many brands have come out with campaigns, promotions, activities, and even merchandise to commemorate Pride Month. And Adidas is one of many said brands, as it continues its long-running “Love Unites” campaign for Pride 2021.

Love Unites: 2021 Edition

To celebrate a love that connects us all, Adidas debuts its “Love Unites” platform by releasing a 30+ piece Pride collection along with a global campaign highlighting influential members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community.

The expansive collection features a wide range of styles and performance wear in a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) visual aesthetic. Highlighting the fluidity of LGBTQ+ communities and the desire for self-expression, these pieces showcase fluid geometries as well as expressive and layered graphics.

The 2021 “Love Unites” collection comes with classic Adidas silhouettes like the Nizza, Forum, UltraBoost 5.0 DNA, and AdiZero Pro V1—dyed in special Pride colors. Additionally, it features a colorful line-up of everyday apparel—from bucket hats and jumpsuits to sports bras, shorts, and jerseys.

Key LGBTQ+ Icons and Supporters

This year’s ‘Love Unites’ campaign will be represented by Adidas partners who are active members and supporters of the LGBTQ+ community. These athletes and artists have made incredible strides forward as champions of inclusivity. Some key personalities include:

  • Layshia Clarendon: the first openly transgender professional basketball player
  • Amanda Zahui B: professional basketball player and vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement
  • Chelsea Gray: professional basketball player
  • Collin Martin: professional soccer player
  • Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger: professional soccer players, teammates, and married couple
  • Rachel Daly: professional soccer player
  • Tom Daley: former world champion 10m diver and current World Series champion
  • Aleia Hobbs: American track and field athlete
  • Pabllo Vittar: Brazilian singer and songwriter
  • Rich Mnisi: South African fashion designer
  • Thebe Magugu: South African fashion designer
  • Chinae Alexander: Lifestyle and wellness expert
  • Jessamyn Stanley: American yoga teacher, writer and body positivity advocate
  • Cody Rigsby: famed fitness trainer

Made with Pride, for Pride… Month

Adidas first released its Pride Pack last 2015. This was developed by a group of Adidas employees who wanted to create meaningful products for an upcoming PRIDE march. Beyond its vibrant colors and designs, these items served as a symbol of Adidas’ rich history in sport paired with its longstanding support of the LGBTQ+ movement.

Through this campaign, Adidas not only celebrates the LGBTQ+ community but also gives back through funding causes that help the LGBTQ+ community. With multi-year partnerships set on ending homophobia and transphobia like Athlete Ally and Stonewall UK, Adidas aims to break down barriers for LGBTQ+ members. The goal, after all, is to have equal representation for LGBTQ+ people in all sport and fitness communities at all levels.

But most importantly, Adidas aims to end homophobia and transphobia. Because a celebration of love is meant to be celebrated by anyone and everyone—with Pride.
